Fourth & Fifth Band Mates

We do in fact have a fourth and fifth members in our project, the Bose towers.  Audiences tell us things like ”your sound is so incredibly clear and tight, unlike any ‘bar band’ I have ever heard.”  So far we have used the system at The Fish and the Knights of Columbus Hall and, with a few small exceptions, the Towers and subs have been equal to the task.
As a result of one exception, I have started carrying my Ampeg rig to gigs as I am not altogether happy with the tone I am getting for the bass.  I see this as a short term fix, until I can afford the Pack Light system to extend my bass range or until I acquire a smaller bass combo amp.  The Pack Light system seems the ideal choice in terms of a smaller foot print and keeping it all in the Bose family.
A second exception is that we are being told to turn up the guitar (imagine being in a band where the guitarist is not too loud!) especially during Derek’s solos.  Derek has been using a Fishman Aura to boost his levels when soloing.  This is not a shortcoming of the Bose however, and we have some tweaking to do to get a good balance.
A third exception is the occasional feed back that we get from the system.  My theory is that we are needing to crank up our vocals to ensure that we project clearly over the drums but may not be getting the optimum 8 feet distance from the towers.  I have made adjustments to the EQ settings of course, but may try getting more distance where venues allow.

Nice Logan, I’m glad you mentioned the twins. There is no other system that rivals Bose.

  2. Logan Says:

Hells Yeah! And, the Twins have proven themselves at, yet another venue, Garvin’s Spikehorn. Reports are that the sound was well balanced and filled the room without being too loud. Three venues of different size, shape, and material composition and the Twins have adapted to each.

    Hi Frannie,

we played at Loggers once and had a great time. We play about 2 venues a month but have not booked at Logger’s in some time. we do have some opennings so maybe we’ll give them a call. it ould be nice to play there again. Have you seen us out before? we have also cosidered playing at Ogemaw Lanes which is nights versus the one nights at Loggers. email me at admin@bandproj.com so we can keep in touch or even on myspace if you have one.

My husband and I stopped in Loggers one night and Band Project was performing. We sat at the bar thinking we would have one drink and then leave but ended up closing down the bar because we enjoyed the music so much. We have your Web site on our favorites-list and check it often for play-dates hoping you will be at Loggers/West Branch again. We plan to go to Traverce City on Sat. to catch the show, cant wait.

    hey Frannie and Tony,

Very cool that you guys made it up after all. Are you blonde and were you by any chance wearing black; like a turtleneck or something; sitting off to my left? There was a couple over there that I seem to recall. I do remember the “wipe-out” comment. I hope you guys had a room and did not have to drive home in that storm. Some of our others friends said it took them forever to get home in that mess. Keiter drove home that night too and said it was horrendous. Thanks very much for your compliments!

Looking forward to meeting you guys at some point - til then, take care!!
